DOROTHY WALLIS, President/CEO of Care Pregnancy Clinic
go back

Dorothy Wallis

With a Master of Divinity and as President/CEO of Care Pregnancy Clinic for 24 years, Dorothy Wallis has started and developed six pregnancy resource centers in Louisiana. In this capacity, she pioneered the medical clinic model in 1990 and developed the Care Pregnancy Clinic, a cutting edge medical clinic. In addition, she co-authored "The Pregnancy Help Medical Clinic" and authored "How to have Successful Banquet" manuals, Patients Rights Card, and Life Affirming Communication video presentation. She has consulted with numerous centers nationally during their conversion to become a medical clinic.

In April 1989, Dorothy began hosting a radio program entitled "Life Radio" which, to present, airs daily and syndicates in Louisiana and surrounding states.

In May of 1990, under the administration of Louisiana's Governor Buddy Roemer, Dorothy was appointed the Chairperson for the Teen Pregnancy Commission.

In the summer of 1996, Governor Mike Foster appointed her Chairperson over a committee to oversee the "school-based-clinics". The committee, "School-Based Health Clinic Task Force" insured that the clinics adhered to the law and did not dispense contraceptives or provide abortion counseling or referrals.

Currently, she oversees 20 Pregnancy Help Centers through the Louisiana Life Choice Project. Legislatively, she has been actively involved in lobbying on state and federal levels for life issues. Nationally, she is a founding Board Member of the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates (NIFLA) based in Virginia.
