The BoardWalk Series

Step 1: Evaluating the Effectiveness of the Board of Directors Contains vital information on the roles and responsibilities of the board of directors of a pregnancy help center, job descriptions for board members and officers, and an assessment questionnaire for the board to assess itself and its internal operations. The information in this Step is a first step for a board which wants to strengthen its internal operations.

Step 2: The Board Selection Process Contains guidelines for selection of new board members, sample board application and reference forms, a statement of qualifications for board members, and a leadership commitment statement to be signed by all board members.

Step 3: Conducting Effective Board Meetings Our experience working with hundreds of pregnancy help centers tells us that too many boards of pregnancy centers get bogged down spinning their wheels at meetings accomplishing very little. The information contained in Step Three educates board members on the essentials necessary to conduct effective board meetings.

Step 4: Troubleshooting: Dealing with Board Conflict This step discusses areas of board conflict and how each conflict can properly be addressed. This step gives profiles of certain difficult board personalities and how to work with them.

Price is $55 for NIFLA members ($75 non-members). Please note that this product is copyrighted and may not be copied. We recommend that each board member purchase their own copy.
