Membership Benefits

Membership in NIFLA provides numerous benefits and materials to both medical and non-medical pregnancy help centers. We help you in areas of incorporation, tax-exempt status, tort liability, consumer protection, liability of board members, and other important areas of legal significance.

NIFLA is a national pro-life organization that provides services in compliance with a National Commitment of Care that is endorsed by all national organizations which service pregnancy help centers. To be a member of NIFLA your pregnancy help center must agree to the following code of operations.

NIFLA Member Centers' Commitment of Care and Competence

  • Clients are served without regard to age, race, income, nationality, religious affiliation, disability or other arbitrary circumstances.
  • Clients are treated with kindness, compassion and in a caring manner.
  • Clients always receive honest and open answers.
  • Client pregnancy tests are distributed and administered in accordance with all applicable laws.
  • Client information is held in strict and absolute confidence. Releases and permissions are obtained appropriately. Client information is only disclosed as required by law and when necessary to protect the client or others against imminent harm.
  • Clients receive accurate information about pregnancy, fetal development, lifestyle issues, and related concerns.
  • We do not offer, recommend or refer for abortions or abortifacients, but we are committed to offering accurate information about abortion procedures and risks.
  • All of our advertising and communications are truthful and honest, and accurately describe the services we offer.
  • We provide a safe environment by screening all volunteers and staff interacting with clients.
  • We are governed by a Board of Directors, and operate in accordance with our articles of incorporation, by-laws, and stated purpose and mission.
  • We comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements regarding employment, fundraising, financial management, taxation and public disclosure, including the filing of all applicable government reports in a timely manner.
  • Medical services are provided in accordance with applicable laws, and in accordance with pertinent medical standards, under the supervision and direction of a licensed physician.
  • All of our staff and volunteers receive appropriate training to uphold these standards.

Included are NIFLA services that instruct members in the following areas:

  • Personnel relations
  • Monthly bulletin, Legal Tips, that provides legal guidance on significant issues relating to the operations of a pregnancy help center
  • Legal Audit to identify legal areas of weakness in the operations of a pregnancy help center or medical clinic
  • Board development that includes training seminars on issues of legal significance and board training materials
  • Volunteer counseling
  • Manual and materials on successfully converting operations to medical clinic status
  • The Life Choice Project (TLC), which provides all of the resources necessary for a pregnancy help center to convert its operations to medical clinic status
  • Institute in Limited Obstetrical Ultrasound, a training course for both physicians and nurses in the legal requirements of providing limited ultrasound services in a medical clinic setting
  • Monthly bulletin, Clinic Tips, that instructs on legal issues of significance in relation to the operations of a pregnancy help medical clinic
  • An insurance program providing general liability, professional liability, director and officers liability, and medical malpractice insurance
